Grade 316 is a standard molybdenum containing grade, and it is second important grade after 304 in the austenitic stainless steel family. The molybdenum content offers 316 overall corrosion resistance features. Also it shows higher pitting & crevice corrosion resistance in chloride containing environments. It also has excellent forming as well as welding characters. This grade also shows amazing welding properties. Post weld annealing is not needed when welding it. 316 grades are also known as the marine grade SS but it is not resistant to sea water. In marine environment this grade exhibit surface corrosion which is visible as brown stains.
Stainless Steel 316 Pipes & Tubes also show resistance to oxidation. Continuous use of this grade is not recommended at temperature 425-860 °C. Also this grade is resistant towards carbide precipitation as well as can be used at elevated temperature. It shows high strength at the elevated temperature and can be used in structural or pressure involving application.
These products are not made from single dedicated methods. There are many and choice of the method depends upon the need and applications of product. Welding of 316 grades can be done by any fusion method- with or without filler metal. Hence, you can find SS 316 pipes & tubes with both chemical and mechanical features at our firm.
