Addition of titanium makes it heat resistant. 304/316L is an austenitic alloy, therefore, these wire mesh is good for working at a temperature such as 1000-1600 degree F. It can work at both intermittent and continuous service where carbide precipitation occurs at temperature 800-1500 degree F. It can even work at 1800 degree F as it is designed to work at this range.

Characteristics of SS 304L/316L Super Fine Wire Mesh

Therefore it achieves dual certification making both alloys useful for making wire mesh. Also, 316L wire mesh is similar to this due to similar properties. It makes the mesh immune from grain boundary carbide precipitation. Heavy gauge welded components make use of this alloy. Moreover, pitting resistance and corrosion resistance, crevice corrosion resistance is seen in chloride environments. It is known as marine grade stainless steel. Thermal treatment is not performed over this alloy to make wire mesh but solution treatment is performed at 1010-1120 degree C. However, they are not weldable but is easier to machine.
